Meet Artist Joey Dockery A.K.A. YEOJ

What inspires me to do art is so many things, but one of my big inspirations is nature. There are so many geometric designs and things that look like characters—almost like living beings inside branches, roots and many other things—that allow your imagination to come alive. And when you go to the canvas, you start to create all the things that rubbed off on you in your life. Like, video games, comic books, movies, dreams, experiences you had, feelings of sadness, feelings of anger, feelings of love, it all mashes together into my own style. The best thing about abstract art is that everyone perceives it differently, and you can show someone exactly what you see in it and then they can show you a completely different thing that you didn’t even know about. That is one of the many beautiful things that art offers, and that’s why I love my style of art and continue to pursue it.

The Crystal City is built around the concept of streamlining language and energy from all over the universe and creating one constant force of energy that makes the residents inside able to live their best life and be able to communicate anything with all of the other people around them.

This was told to me via one of the creators of the city. He showed me multiple towers all over the city with these crystal beacons and the energy was shooting through all the beacons and also through this being's third eye which was also a crystal, but he was not human. He kind of looked like this red geometrical bionic looking thing. He looked like a glob from "Aventure Time" but with way more geometric details.

After being told all of this by the being, I was astonished with the work that the Being had been doing. I still had many questions about the city and its purpose, but I could also see down in the city. There were many complex size skyscrapers and different complicated architecture, almost crystal-like structures that were filled with some kind of light force. The same force that is in the Crystal beacons that is powering the city, and that force was shining thru the being that was speaking to me and that same light shined through me.

Being an artist, I have been obsessed with trying to recreate the city but it is very complex. It was like a whole indepth movie, you can't draw a video and it's unable to film. To get to this place, I was astral projecting into a different realm in space-time, but that didn't stop me from trying to depict it.

I have connected this to images in some of my paintings.

It was almost like some sort of island but, when I ran into the Being he kind of gave me a guided tour. It was almost like I snuck up on him in the middle of his creation, but I got the vibe that he wanted to share with me what it was and share that same life force with me. I'm really glad he did.

It definately feels like I still have a connection to that every time I make art. I feel that same life force even if I'm not portraying the city.
